The following proposals will be submitted as Amendments to the Church By-Laws for Church approval at the Mid-Year meeting on July 12, 2018. Church members may submit any comments to the Office or to Deacon William L. Pyatt at vernpyatt@hotmail.com by July 8, 2018:

Article V: STANDING COMMITTEE
Proposal 1:
· A. THE EXCUTIVE COMMITTEE
1. The members of the Executive Committee shall be the Pastor, the Chairperson of the Deacons, the Chairperson of the Trustees, the Treasurer, the Financial Secretary, Clerk, president of the Missions Ministry, along with four members who shall be elected at the annual church conference Director of Christian Education and Chair of the Constitution and By-Laws Committee. This committee shall be chaired by the Pastor.

Proposal 2:
· B. THE BUDGET COMMITTEE
1. The Budget committee shall be appointed by the Pastor or his designee, subject to the approval of the Church membership, at the annual Church Conference. Membership will be composed of a fair representation of the entire congregation of the Church of no specific number, but no less than 11. Among its membership shall be the Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Chairperson of Deacons, Chairperson of Trustees, Church Clerk, and at least one person from the Missions Ministry.

(Note: Prior to the most recent By-Laws, the Clerk was a member. However, due to oversight, the Clerk was omitted in the revision. This Amendment would correct the oversight.)

DERM: The monthly meeting of the Disaster Emergency Relief Ministry(DERM) is Saturday at 9:30 a.m., lower fellowship hall. All members are encouraged to attend.

HURRICANE SEASON: Our Disaster Emergency Relief Ministry(DERM) reminds everyone that hurricane season has started and more storms than average are predicted. You are encouraged to prepare your homes for possible damage, have a family evacuation plan and an emergency ready-to-go-kit. DERM is distributing disaster readiness information June 24.

VETERANS MINISTRY: The monthly meeting of the Veterans Ministry is June 16 at 11 a.m., Carpenter’s Administrative Annex Conference Room. Retired/active military invited.

LADIES’ GOLF CLINIC: Our Golf Ministry is restarting the Ladies’ Golf Clinic. Lessons will be on Mondays at 5:30 p.m., based upon three or more signed up participants. For further information, contact Bendorris White at 803-730-9354 or Marilyn Thomas at 803-206-0996.

FN KIDS READ: The research is clear that children who don’t read during the summer can lose up to three months of reading progress and that loss has a cumulative, long-term effect. In order to keep our students engaged in reading this summer, First Nazareth is sponsoring First Nazareth Kids Read beginning during Vacation Bible School and culminating August 17. We are encouraging students to read for 1000 minutes this summer. All students completing and submitting their Reading Logs will receive a prize. Reading logs will be available for pick-up at Vacation Bible School or in the church office

MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: The Youth Ministry is planning a one-day trip to Simpsonville, SC for the youth session of the Woman’s E&M Convention of SC on Tuesday, June 12. Students may sign up to attend by leaving your name and contact information in the church office at 803- 254-6232 by Friday. Please contact Pat Green or M. Lanelle Kohn for details.

DEEP SEA FISHING: The Mentoring Ministry invites interested persons ages 14 and older to join them for a day of deep-sea fishing June 29, departing from Murrell’s Inlet and fishing from the New Inlet Princess. Cost is $109, equipment and bait included. Contacts are Kory Griggs, Cornell James and Stacy Wilson.
