The primary focus of the Caretakers Support Ministry is to provide support to members of first Nazareth Baptist Church who are currently caring for a sick or disabled family member or friend. We have our annual retreat and Christmas project for caretakers. They also provide periodic telephone checkup to our caregivers, and recently received Respite In-service Training for members. The ministry’s mission is to provide and facilitate access to medical and healthcare services, health education, information and resources for the congregation and the broader community. Promote healthy living and holistic
lifestyles through faith-based wellness / health initiatives. This is accomplished in the congregation and the community through activities which include but are not limited to: Serving as a first responder to assist those experiencing health problems or distress during worship and other church services; Ensuring and maintaining
supplies/ equipment for FNBC Healthcare Room; Distributing Health Information and Literature Nutrition, Physical Activity, Tobacco-use; Prevention and other health promotion initiatives (Farmer’s Market, Heart Healthy / Red Dress Sunday), Health Workshops and Health Fairs, flu shots, blood drives, and Blood Pressure /other health screenings. Membership is open to Physicians, Nurses, Nutritionists, Health Educators, Social Workers, Lay Health Workers and others interested in promoting health. This ministry provides spiritual, emotional, educational and financial support to persons diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and provides educational workshops on HIV/AIDS for the church family and the community. Meets are 5:30 p.m. on second Tuesdays. Officers: President-Dorothy Bates, Treasurer /Assigned Deacon-Mario Gleaton, Secretary-Bridget Cooper. This ministry encourages persons with challenging disabilities to become as independent as possible. It seeks to enlighten persons with disabilities by witnessing, by providing information on available support services, by partnering with overcomers with similar disabilities, and establishing collaboration with other ministries of the church, the community and local and state agencies. This ministry promotes the development of life-management skills, with a focus on self-discipline, utilizing the fruits of the spirit described in Galatians 5:22-23. The acronym PEACE stands for: Patience Endurance Acceptance Control Empowerment. The P.E.A.C.E. Ministry’s goal is to provide enlightening forums to uncover the many forces that contribute to anger and resentment in the life of believers and offer Scriptural based remedies to experience more peace. Since inception in 2001, PEACE provided invaluable information through a series on Maintaining Healthy Relationships, a Mental Health forum, programs in collaboration with the Drama Ministry on Domestic Violence, programs on Grief & Loss, and The Forgiveness Project. “Celebrating 10 Years of Recovery Experience.” The mission of this ministry is to provide spiritual support to persons who are recovering substance abusers or in need of help in any area of addiction.. The ministry meets at
